Does make-up define beauty?

Well I think that question depends on what your definition of beautiful is. Yes, it helps visually. Make-up accentuates features that women like to flaunt. It also hides what women are self-conscious of. But beauty is deeper than what you see on the surface. Beauty is the soul of a person, a smile, kindness. Beauty is being 100% you and showing the world your full potential. Beauty is taking the simple things and turning them into a life well-lived.

People Helping People

People helping people...it happens every day. If only we open our eyes to see more than what we're programmed to see, we'll notice that the human race isn't as cold, isn't as cruel as we're made out to be. Here are a few folks from State College's Meals on Wheels who volunteer their time to feed the local seniors.

Alphabet Portrait: L is for Librarian

Our newest assignment was to take a portrait of an occupation. To choose that occupation, we had to randomly select an alphabet letter from a folder in class. I chose "L." Now originally I was thinking of photographing someone with a unique job...like a Lunar scientist or a Lion tamer, but I don't think many of those exist in or around State College, PA. So I chose an occupation that is near and dear to my heart (I spend lots of time in the library!).

What's the best thing about Penn State?

Winter weather doesn't stop us from doing what we do.

Chelsey Fredlund, a senior majoring in integrative arts, and Kait McCaffrey, a senior majoring in communication, sciences and disorders, enjoy their favorite frozen yogurt at Kiwi Yogurt on Friday, Jan. 13. Though it is an icy treat, Kiwi is open year-round to serve its most loyal customers. (Photo by Melanie DiCarlo)

Christine Guerra, a sophomore majoring in education, power walks in the freezing temperatures from Penn State's Rec Hall to her dorm room in West Halls on Thursday, Jan. 12. Despite the frigid temperatures, students are still highly motivated to hit the gym and keep those New Year's resolutions. (Photo by Melanie DiCarlo)

Alli Breeden, a senior majoring in accounting, and Rachel Lindsay, a junior majoring in psychology, cook and serve hot dogs and meatball subs to students along Beaver Ave. on Friday night. Proceeds went to Relay for Life, which will take place at Penn State in March. (Photo by Melanie DiCarlo)
